Meet Emily Casa was called to the hospital when she was born 2 months premature to a drug addicted mother

Life was fragile for the tiny 2 pound baby

The doctors resuscitated Emily’s heart When it stopped the fifth time, the doctor asked, “Do you want us to try again?” four times.

The decision was, “Yes!” Emily’s heart has remained beating ever since

Emily was at high risk for severe developmental delays and was considered “failure to thrive”

Casa continued to believe in and care for her Emily never lived with her biological family but was instead adopted by a loving Casa family

There she thrived

Emily was valedictorian of her middle school class

and earned a full scholarship to Rice University
