TT&C A standard TM/TC link between S/C and Earth for standard S/C operations. This Low Rate TM/TC is a standard link, operates in S band for TC rate about 2-4 kps, and TM rates order of 64 kps (up to 2.8 Mbps (TBC) can be envisaged if required). A real time low bit rate link for quick look, GRB alert and Telecommand .This bidirectional link (shall be used to allow data exchange for quick-look (GRB positions, images, l.c., spectra) and telecommanding for e.g. TOOs

Ground station: 

Ground station LEO, equatorial orbit (96m): ground contact every orbit. Korou ground station (15 m dish) as baseline but other ground stations (e.g. Malindi) can be considered as well. For fast communication (GRB positions, TOO uplink) the commercial available ORBCOMM system will be used. Heritage: AGILE mission. Instant uplinks and downlink of 4.8/9.6 kbps using a constellation of 30 operational satellites. In case of the AGILE mission the down link time is less than 2 min (80% of the messages, TBC)

Autonoumous repointing: 

Autonoumous repointing WFM Triggers types: 1) Rate 2) Image (any new pt.src. not in the on-board catalog) Rate curves and image over several time scales, energy scales, geographic regions. Rate triggers different background intervals. Extra trigger criteria kick-in after initial trigger fires. Compare with on-board catalogue to validate the trigger Compare with GRB monitor trigger Send request to s/c for fast repointing

Autonomous repointing and Ops (I) Autonomous repointing capability allows for: fast follow-up observations towards bursting sources triggered onboard (localized by WFM). smart pointing to maximize the observing efficiency. Once a pre-planned target is being occulted by earth, the spacecraft will slew, at a lower rate, to on another pre-planned target Pointing to an external triggered TOO target, uploaded from the ground through the ORBCOMM system if fast reaction needed. All slews are checked onboard for observing constraints along the entire slew path, reducing the need for operator interventions. Each target is being assigned a priority (by default GRBs and TOO are executed immediately) that can be overruled from ground.

Autonomous repointing and Ops (II) The implementation of the smart pointing and the negligible effect of the SAA due to the low-inclination LEO, caters for an observing efficiency >80% (SWIFT 84-85% after correction for the different orbit (no SAA passage due to lower inclination angle Along one orbit 70% of the sky will be accessible for pointing, mostly constraint by the sun avoidance angle of 45o and the earth limb.
