This is how I style my hair. My hair is very thin but I have a lot of hair, so with the right products and styling I can get good volume. :

1) In the shower, use a clarifying or bodifying shampoo and a lightweight conditioner. : 

1) In the shower, use a clarifying or bodifying shampoo and a lightweight conditioner. Clarifying shampoos remove product build-up, giving your hair more bounce and body. Bodifying shampoos and conditioners provide moisture without added weight. Make sure you only apply conditioner to the ends-conditioning the roots will weigh your hair down.

2) Towel-dry your hair, then apply a root boosting spray to the crown and volumizing mousse all over. Massage the product in to stimulate the scalp and thoroughly distribute the products. I also spray on a heat protectant. :

To apply the root spray, I section my hair at the crown and spray it underneath each section at the root, repeating several times down the back of my head. :

3) Allow your hair to air-dry slightly, then blow dry. : 

3) Allow your hair to air-dry slightly, then blow dry. I use a blow dryer with a round brush attachment for the crown for maximum volume, then I use a large paddle brush for the rest.

4) When your hair is dry, use velcro rollers for added volume. :

When putting them in my hair, I section off the crown the same way I did when I applied my root spray. I lightly mist the underside roots with a volume hairspray. :

For the top and side sections, I use the largest size. I lay the top sections of both sides and my bangs over the rollers. :

I let these sit in as long as I can, usually while I’m getting ready for work. The longer they’re in, the more volume you’ll have and the longer it’ll last. :

5) When you’re ready to remove them, pull them out one at a time, tease the section and lightly mist with a volumizing hairspray. :

6) Leave your hair like this until you’re ready to walk out the door. Then, gently work your hair down into place, brushing the top layer if necessary. :

7) Finish with hairspray, pomade, wax or a shine spray if you wish, and you’re ready! :
