South Paris Collaborative :South Paris Collaborative For the last three years, I’ve been a co-teacher in a 5th grade inclusion class nicknamed the South Paris Collaborative.


The Inclusion Classroom :The Inclusion Classroom An Inclusion Classroom is based on the concept of least restrictive environment (LRE) According the Individuals with Disabilities Act – 1997 (IDEA-1997) students with disabilities are entitled to be educated with students who do not have disabilities. The South Paris Collaborative :The South Paris Collaborative The South Paris Collaborative was a voluntary collaboration based on the mutual goal of creating a fully inclusive classroom for students of all abilities. Our collaboration includes joint responsibility and the co-development of interventions for all the students in our class.


IEPs :IEPs The Individuals with Disabilities Act, 1997 requires that an IEP be written for each student with a disability before special education services be provided. I wonder how long it will take for Web 2.0 to become an integral piece on an IEP. I wonder how long it will take for Web 2.0 to become an integral part of an IEP?

What IEP goals do we meet with blogging? :What IEP goals do we meet with blogging? When completing a writing assignment, the student will correctly use periods, questions marks and capital letters where necessary.   The student will write 6 organized sentences in a logical, sequential order.  The student will write a short paragraph about one subject that includes a topic sentence. When reviewing his written work, the student will self-correct all errors in grammar.

Podcasting Collaborators :Podcasting Collaborators Speech/Language Therapists The student will verbally describe how to accomplish a multi-step task in the appropriate sequence, using concise language and providing only pertinent information. The student will appropriately question, take turns, maintain topic and end the conversation during a 5 minutes conversational exchange with a peer.   The student will use concise language, clarify miscommunications, and exclude irrelevant information when providing directions or describing an event or topic (e.g., provide organized directions and explain further if not understood).
