Realized need for a different program for those wanting in the trade

Built program which provides employers with entry level apprentices

Employers need basic questions answered about potential employees
Employers need employees with basic skills and knowledge at entry level
Basic Lineworker Training :Basic Lineworker Training Admission to the testing process will be on a first-qualified, first-served basis based on the following:
18 years of age (upon graduation)
High school graduate/GED
2.0 minimum GPA
DOT physical examination
Valid driver’s license
Resume and cover letter

Aptitude test
Pass/Fail
2 day physical skills test
We don’t want your money unless we know you will make it through the school
Upon successful completion of the physical skills test, the student will be eligible to enter into limited enrollment process
APP Test :APP Test This online assessment is designed to help measure attitudes toward theft and drug abuse, as well as interpersonal relations and other attitudes that may affect on-the-job productivity.

Career Description Electrical Lineworkers :Career Description Electrical Lineworkers Install, maintain and repair electrical lines that lead from the generating plant to customers’ homes
Usually work in crews of 2 – 5 people
Work outdoors in all kinds of weather
Work on overhead and underground facilities
May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends
May be on call 24 hours a day or week at a time
Will travel to help other areas to help repair damaged systems
Duties and Responsibilities :Duties and Responsibilities Attaching equipment to poles on ground
Climbing poles or using bucket truck to install equipment aloft
Stringing and sagging line conductors between poles
Operation of various types of switches
Performing preventive maintenance checks
Splicing conductors and related wiring to connect lines, transformers and electrical apparatus
Reading and interpreting service orders and circuit diagrams
Repairing or replacing lines or equipment

Classroom work mixed with field work

Blended course with 6 weeks of training at home including 27 online tests for 11 total weeks

Should be willing to relocate or travel; you will limit your employment opportunities tremendously if you limit it to working in hometown area.
CDL requirements; you will be required to have a class A CDL. We will ask you to at least possess a class A permit upon graduation from the program.

Class A needed to drive trucks and haul pole and wire trailers

Large percentage of workforce retiring in the next five years, leaving a large vacancy nationwide.
Wage Considerations :Wage Considerations Lineworkers average an annual salary of $60,000 throughout the U.S.
With overtime, lineworkers can make more than $100,000
Wage Considerations :Wage Considerations Journeyman linemen make anywhere from $20 to $35 per hour in this region
Entry level apprentices generally begin at 40%-50% of journeymen’s wages
Frequent pay increases over a period of approximately four years
