Intensive: Session One Innovative Leadershp Innovative Leadership Project: Overview for Local Churches Craig Kennet Miller http://churchleaderUMC.com Permission is given to use for leadership in the Innovative Leadership Project and in local churches

What is Innovation?:

What is Innovation? Takes something old and makes it new Process for adapting to new circumstances Improves what you have

What is the Innovative Leadership Project? :

What is the Innovative Leadership Project? It’s a seven-month leadership development process for local church teams It teaches teams how to generate ideas and to develop growth strategies It has a congregational development mindset: It looks at the whole system of the congregation and how it connects to its members and the people who live in the community where the church is located

The challenge facing the church:

The challenge facing the church The issue most churches are facing is how to cope with the constant change that is shaping their communities and the society as a whole. Most churches want to change but do not know how to do so. They are using models and strategies that do not take into account what they already have to offer that is of value to people around them. Rather then trying to fix what is wrong, they need to grow into what is right – living their faith in Jesus Christ in a way that draws people into an experience of grace.
