Calculators can SAVE TIME! They are able to do math problems usually faster than what humans can. This means that you can do simple tasks such as adding prices together at the market and subtracting objects to see who has more. When we become older and want to do a quick math problem, a calculator can give the answer in a short amount of time. QUIT Parts of a Calculator : Parts of a Calculator Why is it important to learn how to use a calculator? Turn on/off Numbers Equal sign Addition sign Subtraction Sign Multiplication Sign Division sign Screen Video Clip Author Slide Resource Slide QUIT Turn On/Off : Turn On/Off Some calculators shut off automatically others have an OFF button that looks like these. To turn ON a calculator you just push the button with ON printed on it. Sometimes the ON button looks like ON/C. This means it is the ON button and the CLEAR button. QUIT Where are the Numbers? : Where are the Numbers? The numbers are usually in the middle of the calculator. The numbers buttons on the calculator are 0 to 9. Larger numbers can be made by pushing the first placed number then the second placed. QUIT Equal Sign : Equal Sign The equal sign is usually on the lower right corner of the calculator QUIT Addition Sign : Addition Sign The addition sign is usually on the right side of the calculator. Look for a button with a plus sign on it. QUIT Subtraction Sign : Subtraction Sign The subtraction sign is usually on the right side of the calculator. Look for a minus sign on a button. QUIT Multiplication Sign : Multiplication Sign Like the addition and subtraction sign, the multiplication sine is also on the right side of the calculator.
