Surface Vessel Tracking and Assessment Definition and Operational Goal Mission Definition To detect and localize surface targets in the littorals, observe and understand their behavior and anticipate normal/abnormal activity Addresses the gap between Large Ship Tracking and Naval Facility and Homeland Port Defense Mission Areas Operational Goal Hand off potential threats for Maritime Interdiction Operations or direct engagement Hand off to coalition/friendly Naval & Law Enforcement Agencies for interdiction or engagement

Surface Vessel Tracking and Assessment MDA Requirement and Operational Goal Surface Vessel Tracking requirements in support of MDA: Collect, fuse, analyze, display and disseminate information/intelligence Sources include National Technical Means (NTM), National/Joint Operations and Intelligence Centers (NOCs, JIOC, etc.), tactical and coalition partners Optimize the tasking of sensors to maximize opportunities for collection Mix of national, theater and tactical ISR assets Identify, persistently monitor and continuously track all surface vessels in the littoral Large ships and small boats Commercial, recreational and military craft Many thousands to 10’s of thousands of tracks dependent upon the Area of Operations (AOR) Monitor diverse activity, identify anomalous behavior to provide Indications and warning and situational awareness support hand off for MIO or other action
