Phase 0: Scope

Introduction:

Introduction Early 2004 Entovation Ltd and Eurofocus Ltd as the enablement competence of the Entovation network were contacted by the Egyptian development agency RITSEC with the request to co-create a project focused on the question: "How can we enhance the prosperous sustainability and global positioning of Egypt through the optimal flow of knowledge in innovation systems?" Between November 2004 and March 2005 the educational design was completed by RITSEC, Entovation and Eurofocus with a focus on blending world-class distance delivery capabilities and technologies. In April 2005 a series of 4-week workshops training and educating the top 120 young high potentials and future leaders in various ministries of the Egyptian government in the Knowledge Innovation® methodology (KEN Practitioner Course) was launched.

Challenges:

The purpose of the question was hence in essence to explore how a network of KIZs could be created in order to enhance the prosperous sustainability and global positioning of Egypt. Innovation is what created Egypt’s past and it is what will lead it through the future in the opinion of its leaders. In this respect the challenges being faced by Egypt as a nation are: Shifting from the information paradigm to the knowledge paradigm Lack of sufficient collaboration within and between organizations Lack of formal Knowledge Innovation® structures and processes Lack of sufficient resources Challenges

The chosen tool: The ENTOVATION Gyroscope:

The chosen tool: The ENTOVATION Gyroscope Values If vision provides the direction, then values provide the base – a solid foundation of interdependent variables that over time provide consistency for enterprise innovation. These are the cultural norms that ground inspiration and initiatives together – individual-to-individual, group-to-group, and nation-to-nation. Architecture The five (5) elements of the management architecture were originally developed mathematically in 1989. They have evolved into facets that – when managed as interdependent variables – provide management practices that ensure managerial flexibility and agility.

Results:

Results When the ingredients are carefully blended and then served in a passionate and dedicated manner, the results are: The proposals are now served to potential sponsors and funding bodies with the basic request to fund a deployment phase in which a prototyping of the project will take place. This occurs in a growing community of trained Knowledge Innovation® professionals that is self-managed and supported by a series of project offices. Inter-disciplinary and departmental collaboration between and within ministries Inter-disciplinary and departmental collaboration among ministries A growing community of Knowledge Innovation® Practitioners A large number of brilliant and viable context-sensitive project proposals

Phase II: Development:

Phase II: Development

Knowledge Innovation® Strategy Deployment:

Knowledge Innovation® Strategy Deployment During the course of the KEN Practitioner program, participants created a Knowledge Innovation® strategy for solving a particular challenge based upon the Knowledge Innovation® assessment methodology. The follow-on Knowledge Innovation® Strategy Deployment Course is focused on the detailed formalization of the Knowledge Innovation® Strategy proposal into a logical, coherent and well reflected deployment plan as the basis for an investment decision by sponsors. The Knowledge Innovation® Strategy Deployment plan hence allows for bridging the gap between the Design / Development and Deployment Phase of the Knowledge Innovation Zone (KIZ) Blueprint

Key learning objectives:

Key learning objectives Focus and strategically align the results of a Knowledge Innovation® Assessment Draft a detailed Knowledge Innovation® Strategy Deployment programme Effectively prototype the Knowledge Innovation® Strategy as a proof-of-concept Demonstrate effective collaborative behaviour in an international virtual team Competently utilize state-of-the-art collaboration technology Professionally present and sell a major strategy deployment proposal
