If left untreated, OSAS can result in mental retardation, malaise, or even death. OSAS can also result in mental retardation, Attention Deficit Disorder, or other learning and behavioral problems.Air Flow in a Patient with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome: Air Flow in a Patient with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome Air enters the body through the nostrils. It continues from the nostrils through the nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchial tubes, and lungs Most of the cases involving sleep apnea in children are related to adenotonsillar hypertrophy.Dr. David WoottonDepartment of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering: Dr. David Wootton Department of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering A team of students, working in the laboratory of Dr. David Wootton, designed a model to measure pressure differences in the pathway of an air chamber. The team included Chun Xu, Sang Hoon Shin, Priya Vaidyanathan, Chang-Beom Kim, and Ryan Hoover.Operation of the Air Chamber Model: Operation of the Air Chamber ModelNasal Cavity/AirWay Model: Nasal Cavity/AirWay Model Curriculum PlanFactors that Affect Transpiration in Higher Plants: Curriculum Plan Factors that Affect Transpiration in Higher Plants Laboratory Exercise: Laboratory Exercise Students will compare the rate of water flow and pressure in capillary tubes with various bore sizes and in a potometer of living plants.Final Performance: Final Performance The student will use pro Engineer to modify the artificial transpiration model. The modification should either involve augmenting or reducing the rate of water movement in each capillary tube of the model. How might the modification affect plant metabolism? Thank You: Thank You Dr. David Wootton Ph.D, Drexel University Dr. Raanan Arens M.D., Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Joe McDonough, Biomedical Engineer, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Dr. Allon Guez Chun Xu Chang-Beom Kim Sang-Hoon Shin Priya Vaidyanathan Ryan Hoover That’s a wrap!!!!
