Slide 2:
How many people in the bible and down through the ages have thought they were right , yet were wrong ? Pharisees, Sadducees, Nicodemus, Saul of Tarsus, Cornelius, Apollos, and Judas are some examples of those who were totally convinced of being right with God. Some paid attention and changed, others were hard-headed and were lost. Beware, this is serious. It’s an eternal issue. ( Prov 14:12) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Slide 3:
If you hear or read something that convinces you of your need to change, AND YOU STILL HAVE TIME , breathe a sigh of relief and thank God for mercy. According to the bible, many will hear too late to change and be lost forever. Consider these prophetical events: Matt. 25:1-12 - Five virgins (sinless) without oil – They will be convinced they are right with God , yet are not and will be lost forever. Matt. 7:22-23 - They will be doing God’s work in His Name and will be convinced they are right with God , yet will not be doing God’s will and will be lost forever. Matt. 25:14-30 – The one talent person thought he was doing right , but he wasn’t, and will be lost forever. Matt. 25:31-46 – They will think they are sheep , yet they are goats, and will be lost forever. ALL THESE AND MANY MORE WILL HEAR TOO LATE TO CHANGE , TAKE HEED TODAY, LISTEN, LEARN AND CHANGE WHILE YOU HAVE TIME!!
Slide 4:
These scriptures prove that SOME WILL THINK THEY ARE SAVED YET WILL BE LOST because they ignored God’s Word !! The main question is: WHY will these people be lost ? All it takes is to read the bible for answers. As you will see in reading each scriptural example, the core problems are selfishness, slothfulness and distracted by this world . In Isaiah 14, Lucifer is described as selfish and ambitious. Jesus is the opposite in Matt. 11:29 – meek and lowly of heart . I doubt I could cover all of the examples in scripture of those who will think they are right with God and will not be , but let me review a few obvious ones.
Slide 5:
Many of you are familiar with these scriptural texts so I won’t quote the entire texts here, but if you are not familiar with the scriptural reference , please read the scriptures first . Matt. 25: 1-12 – These 5 virgins had no oil and so their lamp went out. Obviously, it’s important to keep your lamp burning – which could mean, witnessing of God’s truth, being a light unto this world, staying full of the Holy Ghost and anointing. Remember, these 5 virgins were righteous but missed out because of their slothfulness and selfishness. Matt. 25:14-30 – This person didn’t do anything with God’s investment in him, so he will be lost because he focused on keeping what was given him instead of sharing it to reproduce for God. Obviously, it’s important to God that we are witnessing of His love and truth to others. Matt. 25:31-46 – These people will be shocked at God’s words. “When did we see thee naked and not clothe thee… ?” Selfishness will condemn them. God so loved that He gave, and He expects us to do the same with our time and finances .
Slide 6:
John 15: 1-8, Luke 13:6-9 – Advises us to be reproducing fruit or be lost. Matt. 7:22-23 – These people will be operating in the Gifts of the Spirit in Jesus’ Name yet will not be doing the Will of God according to verse 21. (Luke 17:28-30) Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded ; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed . Nicodemus, Saul of Tarsus, Cornelius, and Apollos were convinced of being right with God until they learned the truth, then they accepted, believed and changed. Selfishness killed Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5. Jesus said, if you love me, keep my commandments… consider these: (Mat 5:44) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you ; (Luke 6:35) But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Slide 7:
(Luke 6:49) But he that heareth , and doeth not , is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (1 John 3:16-17) Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren . But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him , how dwelleth the love of God in him? (2 Cor 8:13) For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: (2 Cor 8:14) But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want : that there may be equality: (2 Cor 8:15) As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack . (John 13:35) By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples , if ye have love one to another . WE MUST BEING DOING GOD’S WILL IN SHOWING HIS LOVE TO OTHERS OR WE MAY BE TOLD: “DEPART FROM ME” INSTEAD OF “WELL DONE!”
