Using VoiceThread and Kidspiration as a Mindtool for creating Friendly Letters Stephanie Curry EDTECH 566 Penn State Great Valley

Research : 

Research Ed.VoiceThread allows for differentiation based on Multiple Intelligences Using computers as processing, publishing, and collaboration tools results in better writing by students. Parent involvement in the classroom positively correlates to student performance.

Learners : 

Learners 18 second grade students 7 perform above grade level in writing, 7 on level, and 4 below level All students have used Kidspiration previously This is the first time students are using Ed.VoiceThread

Procedure : 

Procedure Create a concept map on the parts of a friendly letter using Kidspiration Write a draft of a friendly letter Edit and revise friendly letter drafts Create final copies of letters using a word processor Publish and collaborate on their letters with parents on Ed.VoiceThread

VoiceThread and Kidspiration as a Mindtool : 

VoiceThread and Kidspiration as a Mindtool Voicethread-model experiences by capturing and indexing stories with hypermedia Kidspiration-model domain knowledge

Impact on Learners : 

Impact on Learners Students will have a better understanding of friendly letters Students will have higher motivation to write due to its publication online

Assessment : 

Assessment Concept Maps will be assessed through a checklist Final copies of friendly letters will be graded through a rubric with categories of heading, greeting and closing, body of letter, conventions, audience, and neatness Ed.VoiceThread participation will be monitored by the teacher and not directly assessed-allows students time to become familiar with technology
