SAEINDIA Western Section, the first section of SAEINDIA, established in 1996, is operating with its headquarters at ARAI-Pune. It has about 25 Collegiate Chapters, 2200 student members and 400 regular members. Every year, this section celebrates its Annual Social in Sept./Oct. with various parallel events. * Registration of new SAEINDIA Members available at the venue also. Student participants / delegates have to register at their respective college by paying cash of Rs.100/- per event or by sending a cheque/DD in favour of “SAE Western India Group”, Payable at Pune. 1. Saturday, 24th Sept 2005, 09.00 to 16.00 hrs: Student Project Competition at ARAI. 2. Saturday, 24th Sept 2005, 16.00 to 19.00 hrs: Annual Social in ARAI Hall No. 1 followed by Dinner at ARAI. 3. Sunday, 25th Sept 2005, 09.00 to 17.00 hrs: National level Paper Presentation Competition in Hall No. 1 & 2. 4. 24th / 25th Sept 2005, 09.00 to 17.00 hrs: ARAI Laboratory visit in batches. 5. 24th / 25th Sept 2005, 09.00 to 17.00 hrs: Mountaineering Activities (Valley crossing, Flying fox & Rappelling) in batches. 1 The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune, set up in 1966 for industrial research, was formed by the Indian Automotive Industry and is affiliated to the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India. ARAI is the nodal center for research and development, in the automotive field. Both in terms of infrastructure facilities and competence, ARAI’s multifold growth reflects in the services it provides to the automotive industry. The main objectives of ARAI are: To carry out sponsored projects for Research & Development for the automotive industry. To formulate standards and implement regulations for certification purpose. Emerging as one of the leading testing facilities, particularly in the last decade, ARAI has won laurels for several projects related to development in automobiles. The available expertise lends significant assistance to the Indian and overseas automobile companies. To meet the challenges of this century, ARAI has drawn up an ambitious plan to modernize and upgrade existing infrastructure and develop state-of-the-art Research & Development facilities in automobiles, commensurate with the roadmap towards global harmonization of Indian automobile standards.
