Involvement We participate in on-campus events as well as Austin community service programs. Leadership We attend conferences each semester where all majors receive great exposure to technical and professional opportunities. Over 6,000 students, professionals, corporate representatives. and community leaders from around the country are anticipated to attend. Oct. 31-Nov. 4, 2007 Philadelphia, PARegistration Information: Registration Information Deadlines: Regular Registration- Oct. 1, 2007 ($100) Late Registration – Oct. 8, 2007 ($150) Only one student registration lodging plan is available which includes shared, quad occupancy accommodations for up to four nights from Wed-Sat, access to all workshops, general sessions, career/grad fair and tickets to major events. Student registration is now open through OneSHPE. All student registrants are required to input/update their resume in OneSHPE. SHPE Conference Travel Stipend: SHPE Conference Travel Stipend The amount of the travel stipend awarded will be the actual cost of travel expenses up to $100 per student traveling more than 500 miles, or up to $50 per student traveling from 100 to 500 miles, away from the conference site. Students within 100 miles from the conference site are not eligible. Eligibility SHPE member in good standing (Non-members may complete their SHPE membership application online and pay the annual $5 membership fee.) Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in science, technology, engineering or math at an accredited 4-year university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico Must be enrolled as a full-time student for fall 2007. Must be willing to volunteer at a one-hour workshop session or for at least one hour, in general, at the conference. Students that are awarded AHETEMS Travel Grants to attend the Graduate Institute or GRE/Grad Lab at the SHPE Conference are not eligible. Application Process SHPE Conference Travel Stipend Application Form 250 to 500-word essay explaining the importance of the SHPE Conference to the applicant’s academic and/or professional development goals as a Latino/a student Current Career Profile and Resume on OneSHPE, must include cumulative GPA Itemized estimate of travel expenses Deadline to complete application package must be RECEIVED BY 11:59 pm EST, Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007. SHPE Conference Travel Discount: SHPE Conference Travel Discount American Airlines is offering conference attendees a 7% discount when you choose American Airlines or a OneWorld alliance partner to travel to Philadelphia, PA for the SHPE Conference. You can make your reservations on-line at www.aa.com, for American Airlines and American Eagle flights only, or by calling the American Airlines Meeting Services Desk at 1-800-433-1790.
