Program Overview By the Numbers 10-weeks of language study and self-development in English during July / August June 26-September 1, 2006 6 host organizations 5 public school boards / 1 public community college 100 college-age students 20 students per class 7 cultural, historical and nature destinations for study (excursions) Toronto, Niagara Falls, Kingston, Ottawa (Montreal), Barrie (Algonquin Park)

Host Organizations Points of Interest: 

Host Organizations Points of Interest Programming is the result of unprecedented collaboration between 5 public school boards and 1 public community college Each school board and college is very experienced in hosting international students

‘Heart’ of Culture, History and Nature: 

‘Heart’ of Culture, History and Nature Students will visit culturally important cities like Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa and Montreal to tour museums and see recreations of history Students will learn about the Aboriginal, French and English cultures that founded Canada Students will appreciate and be awed by Canadians’ co-existence with ‘great nature’ through visits to Niagara Falls and Algonquin Park

Program Curriculum: 

Program Curriculum Curriculum design / program management by Peel District School Board (CET) Regardless of starting study destination, each class receives the same curriculum in the same order Excursions (incl. pre-/post-activities) are chosen by each host organization to showcase its region 2 weeks per study destination Students experience different teachers, teaching styles, etc. by moving to a new study destination every 2 weeks Students accomplish sightseeing goals when visiting different study destinations Programming focuses on listening/speaking, writing and personal development in English ‘Soft skills’ such as making presentations, negotiation, etc.
