A foremost precious metals and foreign exchange trader Meydan Precious Metals and Foreign Exchange Inc. (“Meydan”) was established in 1995 by Yalınkaya Group. The company was approved as a member to the Istanbul Gold Exchange in 1999. Since then, as an extension of its parent group’s jewellery business, Meydan became one of the major brokers in the bourse. According to 2003 trade volume figures, Meydan is at the sixth rank in the Istanbul Gold Exchange. At the end of 2002, Yalınkaya Group companies were regrouped and the companies involved in gold and jewellery business were positioned under a newly-formed division. Therefore, these companies were transferred to Goldart Holding, specialized in gold and jewellery fields. Currently, Meydan is 90% held by Goldart Holding.

Gold business in the world India has always occupied the top of the list as the biggest gold consuming country, while USA has been the follower. In general, the historical data reveal that major players are the same in the world gold demand. According to World Gold Council statistics, Turkey ranked 4th having 203,9 tons gold demand in 2003.

Istanbul Gold Exchange After Istanbul Gold Exchange was inaugurated in 1995, the number of brokers reached 51. Currently, the breakdown of contestants is 18 banks, 22 currency offices, 8 precious metals companies, 1 precious metals producing and marketing company, 1 precious metals refinery and 1 non-resident company. Istanbul Gold Exchange also includes Precious Metals Trading, Futures and Options Trading and Precious Metals Lending.

Our target is continued growth Meydan targets to sustain growth, with a brokerage service expanding at a pace greater than that in foreign exchange business. Therefore, gold brokerage seems to account for a higher stake in business volume in the following years in favor of profitability.

The Parent Company Goldart Holding is a specialized division in gold and jewellery. It was formed to have an integrated structure, accommodating gold and other precious metals production, refinery, jewellery manufacturing and marketing, in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Currently, there are five companies operating under this group of speciality, namely Goldaş Jewellery, Goldaş Marketing, Meydan Precious Metals and Foreign Exchange, Pregold Mining and Goldoro Refinery.
