Blog Creation:

Blog Creation To create your first blog, login to . The window below will open up. Sign in with your gmail account or create one if you do not have one. The window provided below is as of December 20, 2013. When you login with your gmail account, it will open up a page requesting you to create a blogger account New Blog. Click on it to create a new blog

PowerPoint Presentation:

When you click on the New Blog Button, a pop-up window like below will display requesting for Blog Title (The Blog Name), Address (URL) and Template. Fill out the form, choose a template and proceed to create blog. After you’ve created the blog, it will appear as this below Click on “view blog” to view your initial blog before content development. It will look something like what we have below. Blog name url address Templates to be chosen from

Tips to blog creation:

Tips to blog creation Choose a title which is relevant to the content of your site, choose a keyword or two connected to your content. This will help people find your blog more easily in search engines. match the URL to the title of your site, select a “starter template” from the selection further down the page(which is changeable and customizable).

Post Creation:

Post Creation After creating the blog, the next is to start feeding up the blog with posts and widgets. To create a post, click on the orange button Upon clicking on the create new post button, a window like below opens up. The window displays “post title” which is where you type the title of your post. Then the body, where you type your post. While creating a post, note these; 1. When choosing a title for your post, try to include a relevant description of what the post will be about. This will help people find your post more easily in search engines and attract more page views. 2. The post can be composed in either the traditional platform or HTML. In the tool bar, the traditional tools for editing are made available .

Customizing Posts:

Customizing Posts In customizing posts, posts are constructed Aesthetically. Creativity is of much importance I customizing your posts. More of what that can be done apart from the traditional editing include; Changing font colour Change font background colour Select an area of text to appear as a quote using the blockquote button Inserting ordered (numerical) or unordered list (bulleted). Adding links Inserting pictures (and/or images) and videos.

Adding Link:

Adding Link Adding links to a blog is important as it; Re-directs viewers and readers to other pages. Increases the page-views of other of other pages. Increases site ranking on search engines. Linked sites are seen as having more authority. Link an be to a web address or email address. To add a link to a post, highlight the word or combination of words to link, click on the hyperlink button. A pop-up dialogue box requesting for the URL to be linked appears on the screen. Adding Images:

Adding Images Images can be added to a blog post via : Upload an image from a hard drive Previously uploaded images to the blog Hosted images in Picasa Web Albums Mobile phone (requires the Google+ app) Webcam (requires confirmation of use via Adobe Flash) Paste the URL of an image hosted elsewhere (e.g.: Flickr , Photobucket ) To add an image, click the image button in the posting toolbar and select the method you would like to use. A “Select a file” dialogue box pops up. The uploaded image is previewable. After being sure of the image, click on it and click on “Add selected”, the selected picture appears in your blog post. You can choose to paste in more than one image at a time by holding CTRL (or CMD) and clicking each image. Adding Images Cont’d By default, the images you paste into your posts will be “medium” sized and will be aligned to the centre of the page. If you would like to change the alignment, size or other image options, click on the image in the text editor to see a menu of available options. You can also drag the image to a position you choose. More Help: You can also add a caption to appear beneath your image by clicking the “Add caption” link. To ensure your images are more “accessible”, add a title and alt-text for your image by clicking the “Properties” link in this menu. This ensures relevant code is in place for those who view your site with images disabled (it's also said to improve search engine visibility, though cannot be relied on). - When you upload images to your blog, these will be added to an album on Picasa which is named using the title of your blog. If you ever want to reuse a previously uploaded image, you can select “From this blog” in the image menu. - Images added to blog posts from a URL host are automatically linked to the URL on which they are hosted. This link can be broken while you add your desired link.
