Industrial Gears Overview:

Industrial Gears Overview Gears are found in many types of equipment’s in which something moves. A gear is a rotating machine part that has teeth which are meshed with another gear to transmit torque. Basically, Gears transmit power from one machine to another. It helps to transmit mechanical power from one device to another. When two or more gears are mesh together then their arrangement are called Gearset or Gear Train. Industrial gearbox are widely used in Sugar, Cement, Power Plants and Mining.

Industrial Gears Types:

Industrial Gears Types According to the position of teeth on the Gear surface: It means how the teeth of the gear surface is cut. Currently, there are only three possibilities in which you will find the cutting of teeth i.e. Straight Cut, Incline Cut and Spiral/Curved Cut. According to the position of teeth on the Gear Surface, the Gears are divided into Spur Gear, Helical Gear and Spiral Gear. Spur Gear Helical Gear Spiral Gear

Spur Gear:

Spur Gear In Spur Gear, the teeth of the Gear Surface is straight cut.

Helical Gear:

Helical Gear In Helical Gear the teeth of the Gear Surface is incline cut. Incline cut increase the contact ratio of the teeth and also increases the power transmission. There are two types of Helical Gear i.e. Single Helical and Double Helical. Single Helical: In Single Helical the Gear Surface has one incline cut.

Double Helical Gear:

Double Helical Gear It is also called as Herringbone Gear which has Two incline cut (V-Shape Cut). Double Helical Gear decreases the Thrust i.e. the requirement of thrust bearing reduces.

Spiral Gear:

Spiral Gear As the name suggest Spiral Gear, the teeth of the Gear is Spiral/Curved Cut. In Spiral Gear the contact ratio of the Gear Increases and it also decreases the Thrust i.e. the requirement of thrust bearing reduces.

According to the position of axes of the shafts: Classification of Gear According to the Position of Axes of the Shafts means how the axes of the shafts are oriented or we can say how the axes of the shafts are connected. Currently, there are three possible Orientation of Axes i.e. when the axes of two shafts are parallel to each other, when the axes of two shafts intersect each other and when the axes of two shafts are perpendicular but do not intersect each other. Based on the position of Axes the Gears are divided into Spur Gearing, Bevel Gearing and Spiral Gearing. Spur Gearing Bevel Gearing Spiral Gearing

Spur Gearing:

Spur Gearing In Spur Gearing Arrangement, the axes of two shafts are parallel to each other. Spur Gear, Helical Gear and Spiral Gear all three types of Gear can be used in Spur Gearing arrangement.

Bevel Gearing:

Bevel Gearing In Bevel Gearing Arrangement, the axes of two shafts are intersected with each other. If the two shafts intersect at the right angle then the arrangement is called as Mitre Gear .

Spiral Gearing:

Spiral Gearing In Spiral Gearing Arrangement, the axes of two shafts are perpendicular to each other but do not intersect with each other.
