Welcome to Shema Bless the Lord! Bless the Lord who is worthy to be praised for all eternity !

Shema:

Shema Shema Israel, Adonai Eloheinu , Adonai Echad . Baruch shem k’vod malchuto l’olam va’ed .

Shema:

Shema Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is One! Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom, forever and ever. Amein.

Genesis 17:1-27:

Genesis 17:1-27 1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” 3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.

PowerPoint Presentation:

5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. 7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

PowerPoint Presentation:

8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” 9 And God said to Abraham: “As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.

PowerPoint Presentation:

10 This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; 11 and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. 12 He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant.

PowerPoint Presentation:

13 He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

PowerPoint Presentation:

15 Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai , but Sarah shall be her name. 16 And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.”

PowerPoint Presentation:

17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child? ” 18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!”

PowerPoint Presentation:

19 Then God said: “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

PowerPoint Presentation:

21 But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year.” 22 Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham. 23 So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him.

PowerPoint Presentation:

24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 26 That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael; 27 and all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Isaiah 63:10-19 (starting in vs 7):

Isaiah 63:10-19 (starting in vs 7) 7 I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us— yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.

PowerPoint Presentation:

8 He said, “Surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me”; and so he became their Savior. 9 In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

PowerPoint Presentation:

10 Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them. 11 Then his people recalled the days of old, the days of Moses and his people— where is he who brought them through the sea, with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them,

PowerPoint Presentation:

12 who sent his glorious arm of power to be at Moses’ right hand, who divided the waters before them, to gain for himself everlasting renown, 13 who led them through the depths? Like a horse in open country, they did not stumble;

PowerPoint Presentation:

14 like cattle that go down to the plain, they were given rest by the Spirit of the LORD. This is how you guided your people to make for yourself a glorious name. 15 Look down from heaven and see from your lofty throne, holy and glorious. Where are your zeal and your might? Your tenderness and compassion are withheld from us.

PowerPoint Presentation:

16 But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name. 17 Why, O LORD, do you make us wander from your ways and harden our hearts so we do not revere you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes that are your inheritance.

PowerPoint Presentation:

18 For a little while your people possessed your holy place, but now our enemies have trampled down your sanctuary. 19 We are yours from of old; but you have not ruled over them, they have not been called by your name.

Acts 5:

Acts 5 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira , sold a piece of property, Act 5:2 and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife's full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles' feet. Act 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:4 "While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." Act 5:5 And as he heard these words, Ananias fell down and breathed his last; and great fear came over all who heard of it.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:6 The young men got up and covered him up, and after carrying him out, they buried him. Act 5:7 Now there elapsed an interval of about three hours, and his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Act 5:8 And Peter responded to her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for such and such a price?" And she said, "Yes, that was the price."

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:9 Then Peter said to her, "Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well. " Act 5:10 And immediately she fell at his feet and breathed her last, and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:11 And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things. Act 5:12 At the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's portico. Act 5:13 But none of the rest dared to associate with them; however, the people held them in high esteem.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:14 And all the more believers in the Lord, multitudes of men and women, were constantly added to their number, Act 5:15 to such an extent that they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and pallets, so that when Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on any one of them.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:16 Also the people from the cities in the vicinity of Jerusalem were coming together, bringing people who were sick or afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all being healed. Act 5:17 But the high priest rose up, along with all his associates (that is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy. Act 5:18 They laid hands on the apostles and put them in a public jail.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the prison, and taking them out he said, Act 5:20 "Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life." Act 5:21 Upon hearing this, they entered into the temple about daybreak and began to teach.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Now when the high priest and his associates came, they called the Council together, even all the Senate of the sons of Israel, and sent orders to the prison house for them to be brought. Act 5:22 But the officers who came did not find them in the prison; and they returned and reported back, Act 5:23 saying, "We found the prison house locked quite securely and the guards standing at the doors; but when we had opened up, we found no one inside."

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:24 Now when the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexed about them as to what would come of this. Act 5:25 But someone came and reported to them, "The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!" Act 5:26 Then the captain went along with the officers and proceeded to bring them back without violence (for they were afraid of the people, that they might be stoned).

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:27 When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them, Act 5:28 saying, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us." Act 5:29 But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. Act 5:31 "He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Act 5:32 "And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:33 But when they heard this, they were cut to the quick and intended to kill them. Act 5:34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel , a teacher of the Law, respected by all the people, stood up in the Council and gave orders to put the men outside for a short time. Act 5:35 And he said to them, "Men of Israel, take care what you propose to do with these men.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:36 "For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a group of about four hundred men joined up with him. But he was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing. Act 5:37 "After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census and drew away some people after him; he too perished, and all those who followed him were scattered.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:38 "So in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or action is of men, it will be overthrown; Act 5:39 but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God." Act 5:40 They took his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 5:41 So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name. Act 5:42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

Acts 6:

Acts 6 Act 6:1 Now at this time while the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint arose on the part of the Hellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food. Act 6:2 So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 6:3 "Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task. Act 6:4 "But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 6:5 The statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus , Nicanor , Timon , Parmenas and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch. Act 6:6 And these they brought before the apostles; and after praying, they laid their hands on them.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 6:7 The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith. Act 6:8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 6:9 But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and argued with Stephen. Act 6:10 But they were unable to cope with the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. Act 6:11 Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God."

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 6:12 And they stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and they came up to him and dragged him away and brought him before the Council. Act 6:13 They put forward false witnesses who said, "This man incessantly speaks against this holy place and the Law;

PowerPoint Presentation:

Act 6:14 for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and alter the customs which Moses handed down to us." Act 6:15 And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the Council saw his face like the face of an angel.
