Toronto= the capital of Ontario, located in southeastern Canada. Sydney= a seaport in southeastern Australia and the capital of New South Wales. London= the capital of England, the United Kingdom and the British Commonwealth; located in southeastern England. New York City= a city and port in southeastern New York State, in the northeastern region of the United states 1 New York City has a lot of immigrants and ethnic groups. Which countries do some of them come from? Why do you think these cities have so many immigrants? Are there any immigrants in your city? Where are they from?

Ted What do you know about Ted and Ana? Write some short sentences about them. Is the woman from South America? Where was she born? Did she grow up there? Where did she learn to Rollerblade? 2 Yes, she is. She’s from Argentina. Yes, she did. She learned to rollerblade in the park. He isn’t very good at rollerblading. It’s his first time rollerblading. He works in a travel agency. He’s a computer specialist. Ana She isn’t very good at rollerblading. She’s originally from South America. She was born in Argentina. She moved there eight years ago, when she was in highschool. It’s her second time rollerblading Conversation: A listening exercise.

A Listen and practice. Ted: Oh, I'm really sorry. Are you OK'? Ana: I’m fine. But I'm not very good at this. Ted: Neither am I. Say, are you from South America? Ana: Yes, I am, originally. I was born in Argentina. Ted: Did you grow up there? Ana: Yes, I did, but my family moved here eight years ago, when I was in high school. Ted: And where did you learn to rollerblade? Ana: Here in the park. This is only my second time. Ted: Well, it's my first time. Can you give me some lessons? Ana: Sure. Just follow me. Ted: By the way, my name is Ted. Ana: And I'm Ana. Nice to meet you. “Look up and say” technique= briefly look at a sentence on the conversation and then look up at your partner and say the sentence relying on your short-time memory.
