Why are we talking about the heart in relation to Ramadan:

Why are we talking about the heart in relation to Ramadan Narrated Numan bin Bashir: he heard the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him say: ((.. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart. )) Refrence Sahih Bukhari Chapter No: 2, Belief Imam Nawawi's 40 hadith hadith no.6

Every person’s deeds are related to the heart. If a person’s heart is filled with Iman, sincerity and righteousness then no matter how small a good deed he will get rewarded for it. A righteous heart causes one to do good deeds all the time for the love of Allah, fearing His punishment and hoping for His Mercy.

What is the first thing needed to purify one’s heart?

Taqwa is the placing of a barrier between a slave and the anger of Allah Ta’ala. Taqwa is a barrier between Hellfire and a slave acquired by following of Allah Ta’ala and leaving the sins. Taqwa is to follow the orders of Allah Ta’ala with knowledge hoping for the Mercy of Allah Ta’ala and to leave the bad deeds fearing the punishment of Allah.:

TAQWA Piety , Fear of Allah ﴿ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴾ O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint,- Surah Al-Baqarah 183 :

TAQWA Piety , Fear of Allah ﴿ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴾ O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint,- Surah Al-Baqarah 183

Fruits of Taqwa:

Fruits of Taqwa 1- Taqwa is the way to attain the love and pleasure of Allah Ta’ala إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ ) Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him] Surah Attaubah : 4

2- Those who have Taqwa are granted the understanding of the Quran and they can distinguish between Truth and Falsehood (يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِن تَتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّكُمْ فُرْقَانًا وَيُكَفِّرْ عَنكُمْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ ) O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion and will remove from you your misdeeds and forgive you. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty. Surah Al- Anfal: 29:

3- One who has taqwa will enter Heaven . (وَسِيقَ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ زُمَرًا حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ طِبْتُمْ فَادْخُلُوهَا خَالِدِينَ) But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, "Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein," [they will enter]. Surah Azzumur : 73

Taqwa is a way to achieve Allah Ta’ala’s Mercy and Forgiveness (إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَغُضُّونَ أَصْوَاتَهُمْ عِندَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ امْتَحَنَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ) Indeed, those who lower their voices before the Messenger of Allah - they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for righteousness. So now the Question arises …. How does one attain Taqwa???:

1- One should recite the Quran ﴿ وَاذْكُرُوا مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴾ "Take what We have given you with determination and remember what is in it that you might fear Allah." Surah Al Araaf: 171:

2- To remind oneself of the conditions of the Hell fire and it’s inhabitants. ﴿ فَاعْبُدُوا مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِ قُلْ إِنَّ الْخَاسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْخُسْرَانُ الْمُبِينُ ﴾ So worship what you will besides Him." Say, "Indeed, the losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss.“ Azzumur: 15:

2- To remind oneself of the conditions of the Hell fire and it’s inhabitants. ﴿ فَاعْبُدُوا مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِ قُلْ إِنَّ الْخَاسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْخُسْرَانُ الْمُبِينُ ﴾ So worship what you will besides Him." Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe. Surah Al Hajj 1-2:
