Andrew Charlton in Politics Dr. Andrew Charlton is an experienced economic adviser with plenty of fresh ideas about how certain trade practices impact the well-being of other countries as well as environment. A Rhodes Scholar from Oxford and Doctor of Economics he is the author of many books and quarterly essays that revolve around these sensitive topics. Charlton entered the Australian government in 2008 as an economic adviser to the Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. The 28-year-old represented his home country at such key events as the G20 Global Leaders Conference and the Copenhagen Climate Conference. In 2011 the World Economic Forum named him as a Young Global Leader. Charlton’s views about how to decrease poverty reverse climate change and increase trade all at the same time created a new school of thought that was referred to across the Australian people as “climate pragmatism.” His ideas echoed through the halls of parliament for years after his departure from government and were often discussed while he took sideline while experimenting in private business. In 2014 he was beckoned to take the Labor Party’s NSW seat but had to respectfully decline because he was heavily occupied with some pressing family matters. He knew that one day he would make it back to the political arena however at the time he found it wisest to hold off for other future opportunities. Dr. Andrew Charlton looks forward to the day when he can get back to the grind and help influence the decisions that will determine
