Slide1:

This is a quick demonstration on the different printing options in PCFlashCards.

Slide2:

First, select which cards you want to print by selecting the categories they reside in. In this example, I am going to print Lesson 1 cards for the First Exam in my Animal Nutrition class.

Slide3:

Click Print/Export

Slide4:

The Print Selection window will open. Select which cards from the set that you want to print. I want to print all ‘Lesson 1’ cards so I will click Select All.

Slide5:

All of the cards are now in the Selected Question column. For other options please refer to the documentation.

Slide6:

Click Print Listing to print a list of the cards on standard 8.5' x 11' paper with the questions on the left and the answers on the right.

Slide7:

The Print Preview will first display the Print Listing and you can actually print it by clicking the Printer icon. When done, click Return. Here is what it will look like.

Slide8:

The Print Cards feature will allow you to print flash cards in 2 different formats. 4 cards per page or 10 cards per page.

Slide9:

The question will print on one side of the page while the answer prints on the other side of the page.

Slide10:

First, let’s look at 4 cards to a page. This is the default setting so I will just click Print Cards.

Slide11:

The Print Setup window will open. Leave the orientation to Landscape and hit OK.

Slide12:

After all of the answers print on one side of the page, reinsert the pages face up and click OK. You do not need to rotate the pages. The answers will then print on the back side of their corresponding question.

Slide13:

This is an example of how the cards will look on the front side.

Slide14:

And here are the answers. You can print these onto regular paper and cut out the cards manually or purchase special heavy card stock that has perforations that you can tear – similar to regular index cards. and#xB;Please refer to the documentation for suggested item numbers to purchase this card stock.

Slide15:

Now let’s look at 10 cards to a page. Select 10 Cards under Print Layout and click Print Cards

Slide16:

The Print Setup window will open. Leave the orientation to Landscape and click OK.

Slide17:

After all of the answers print on one side of the page, take the paper out of your printer, rotate the paper 180 degrees, insert the pages face up and click OK. and#xB; The answers will then print on the back side of their corresponding question.

Slide18:

This is an example of how the cards will look on the front side.

Slide19:

This is an example of how the cards will look on the back side.

Slide20:

You can print these onto regular paper and cut out the cards manually or purchase special heavy card stock that has perforations that you can tear – similar to the size of business cards. and#xB;Please refer to the documentation for suggested item numbers to purchase this card stock.

Slide21:

One word of caution… obviously these cards are small, so you may not have enough room for all the information that you can key into the card in PCFlashCards. and#xB;and#xB;Keep that in mind when printing or creating cards as it will only print what it can fit onto the card (see this example of a card with too much verbiage).

Slide22:

The 4 cards and 10 cards to a page margins have default settings and should work with most printers. But not all printers are the same and if you find that the cards are not fitting on the page correctly you can modify the margins. Go to Options and click Print Card Preferences.

Slide23:

Here you can modify the Page Margins and Paper Layout. You can also change how tall or wide each card is. and#xB;These are the default settings for 4 Cards Per Page.

Slide24:

Use this dropdown to select the settings for 10 Cards Per Page. Please refer to the documentation for more information on Print Cards Preferences.

Slide25:

When printing cards for the first time, we suggest that you do a few sheets at a time to make sure the margins are set correct for your printer.

Slide26:

Also, many printers tend to jam when using too many sheets of the heavy card stock at once, so you may want to limit the number of sheets you use by only selecting a certain amount of cards to print. This can be done in the Print Selection menu. In this example, I only selected 8 cards to print – so I would only print 2 sheets of 4 to a page card stock.
