Use the Prev Elev and Next Elev buttons to navigate thru your job. Click and drag the slider tool to jump to a specific elevation.Import Vendors From GDS v14: Import Vendors From GDS v14 In the test version of WinBidPro you will need to import vendors from your v14 program. When the WinBidPro is officially released, there will be updated, installable vendors available. Run the GDS v15 Import Utility shortcut on your desktop to select vendors to import. The import tool will look in the C:\EstWinV14 folder by default, but you can change this folder by clicking Browse. The location of the v15 folder is where you installed it. You can Browse for an alternate folder to store your vendor file(s) to if you like. This can be on a local or network drive. You can also click the Import Glass & Company Info button the first time you run the Import Utility.Getting Started: Getting Started If the User Name field is blank, click Edit/Add to add a user. The Users window will open. Click Add New here to add a new user. In the Add a New User window, you can simply type in a first name and hit the Tab key, then OK, or you can complete the entire form. The password for login is not being used right now, so ignore that . The login window will remember the last name that you logged in with. Selecting a Vendor: Selecting a Vendor Upon opening WinBidPro for the first time, or when you click the Vendors link in the menu tree, you will see the vendors list above. Here you can delete a vendor, add a new vendor, or edit the location of a vendor file. When you add a vendor, you can browse any drive or folder accessible from your computer.Creating a Job: Creating a Job Upon opening a vendor that has no jobs in it, you will be prompted with this window. This is also what you will see when you click the Add New button in the Job List window. You can access the Job List by clicking the Jobs link from the menu tree. After typing in a Job Name, you can change the Optimizer to be to be used for this job if you like. Better Yield will produce less scrap, especially on larger jobs, and Easy Cut will always group the cut pieces from longest to shortest for each stock length.New Job Continued….: New Job Continued…. After entering the job name and clicking OK to continue, you will see the main WinBidPro window with no elevation drawn. The Elevation Qty field automatically has a 1 in it. If you want multiple elevations of the same size and type, you can enter the quantity here. Now you can enter the Number of Panels and the Frame Width and Frame Height. The process of creating an elevation drawing is somewhat similar to the v14 GDS program. Remember to use the Tab key to move from one field to the next. You can also enter either fractions, or decimal values for the elevation height and width. The Main Screen: The Main ScreenLayout Tab Details: Layout Tab Details Click the Advanced Settings button to edit sill flashing and head receptor settings. Click the Add/Edit Splices button to set splice joint locations for tall elevations.Profile Tab Details: Profile Tab Details Edit frame component profiles in this tab. Click Advanced Settings to set more detailed profiles, such as head and sill receptors and additional horizontals.Unequal Panel Details: Unequal Panel Details Click the Add button to change the width of specific panels. Enter the panel number to change and the new width of that panel. You can enter either a fraction or decimal value for the width. Click Add to Drawing to update the drawing and Exit to close the frame.Door Tab Details: Door Tab Details Use this tab to add door frames and door leafs to an elevation. Once added, you can edit the door frame and door leaf parts at any time. You can also delete just the door leaf, or both the frame and leaf. Before you edit or delete, you need to click on the row in the table that shows the panel you want to work with. Door leafs are not listed in the door table since a frame must exist for a door leaf to exist. Remember, you can always add a door frame without a door leaf.Door Tab Continued….: Door Tab Continued…. This is what you see after clicking the Add Entrance button in the Door tab. Enter a panel number first. Then decide whether you want just a door frame, or a door frame and then a door leaf, or a complete entrance. You can configure complete entrances by clicking the Entrances link on the menu tree, or the Add Entrances button in this frame. Select a Door Frame: Select a Door Frame You will see this window whether you are selecting a door frame to add to your elevation, or you are selecting one to edit. The only difference is the button at the bottom will say Select or Edit. You can also manage this list by clicking Delete or Add New. Be sure to click on the specific frame that you want before clicking either Delete or Select. TIP: In grid table like this, you can point your mouse to the leftmost column (where the black arrow is) and double click your mouse to select that record and continue on.Select a Door Leaf: Select a Door Leaf Selecting a door leaf is the same as selecting a frame, or anything else from a grid table. Click on the door you want and click Select. Or double click in the left column to do this in one step. Don’t forget, you can also delete and/or add a new door leaf at this point. Remember, to edit a door leaf from this same list, you can click the Door Leafs link the menu tree.Select an Entrance: Select an Entrance This window shows you a list of entrances that have been configured, and some details for the door frame and door leaf(s) that make up the selected entrance. You can select the entrance that you want to use in your elevation, or you can add a new entrance first, and then select it. Notice that you can edit or change the door frame and/or door leaf that make up the entrance. This is the same window you see when you click the Entrances link in the menu tree. The Window Tab: The Window Tab Formerly known as the Transom tab, the Windo tab allows you to insert a single lite of glass between multiple verticals. Click the Add button to enter a new window and then specify the beginning and ending panel, and the from and to height. Work from Left to Right and Bottom to Top when entering these values. Horizontals are added if none exist at the top and bottom of the window. Notice you can also select the type of horizontal. The Step Tab: The Step Tab In v14, a Cascade top was defined in the layout window where the elevation dimensions were entered. Now you can apply a stepped top to a series of panels. Click the Add button to define from what panel to what panel, and from what height to what height the step will occur. The Rake Tab: The Rake Tab The Rake feature in v14 was also in the elevation layout window. Now you can define which panels are raked. This will allow you to create a peak/gable top if you apply a rake to either side of a vertical. Click the Add button and enter from what panel, and the from and to height for the raked top.The Arch Tab!: The Arch Tab! That’s right, you can now draw arches in the GDS system! Right now it is a simple arched top with one piece of glass. We will add segments to the arches later. When adding an arch, enter the starting and ending panel for the span, then either enter the actual arch radius, or the height of the arch from the flat top of the opening. The Bulkhead Tab: The Bulkhead Tab Adding bulkhead is very easy. Simply enter the height from the ground to the bottom of the sill and choose All Panels or Selected Panels. If you choose Selected Panels, this window will open. The Height Tab: The Height Tab Not to be confused with the Step tab, this feature will let you change the height of individual, or all panels. If Selected Panels is clicked, you see the same panel selection window as in the bulkhead tab. Notice the check boxes at the bottom of the tab. These let you change the panels that this new height applies to.The Horizontal Tab: The Horizontal Tab The Horz tab allows you to add individual or rows of horizontals. Like the v14 program, you enter the height from the ground to the bottom of the horizontal, then select All Panels or Selected Panels. The panel selection window will open if you click Selected Panels.Horizontal Tab Continued….: Horizontal Tab Continued…. You can now add horizontals that are a certain height above another horizontal. To use this option, keep in mind that you are working from the bottom of the horizontal you reference. This means you must enter the daylight between horizontals, plus the profile of the bottom horizontal. Click the Alternate Horizontal button to select one of the alternate types of horizontals that were defined in the framing system, and the Profl tab.Equal Horizontal Tab: Equal Horizontal Tab Equally spaced horizontals can be added in this tab. Simply click the Add button and enter the number of horizontal rows you want to add. Notice you can also select the type of Horizontal and even select specific panels. Note the check boxes to edit the panels when the Selected Panels option is used. The Split Tab: The Split Tab The Split tab is far more powerful than the v14 program. When adding splits, you can specify the quantity, multiple panels, and the range from one horizontal member to another. For multiple panels, the quantity you enter will apply to each panel. Remember that you will start with the bottom of the lower piece and end with the top of the upper piece when specifying the height of the split.Adding Miter Joints: Adding Miter Joints You now have the ability to add miter joints to the corners of your elevation. This may come in handy if you decide to draw a non standard opening made out of non standard material. Remember that the left jamb is vertical 0, and the right jamb is the same as the number of panels.Adding Glass Stops: Adding Glass Stops You can now add glass stops to any region of the elevation. Click the Add button and specify from what panel to what panel, and the starting height and ending height for the stops to be used. Then you can check which sides of the glass need glass stop material. The Alternate Vertical Tab: The Alternate Vertical Tab Specify the substitute vertical number and it’s profile. Click Add to Drawing and you will see this parts window appear. AltVert Tab Continued….: AltVert Tab Continued…. To add parts for alternate verticals you can either type the part number directly in, or Right-Click in the blank space to open the parts list. Find one part at a time and click the Insert Part button to add it to the alternate window. Notice the Edit Parts field in the AltVert tab. Click the 3 dots button to edit parts that you have already entered. The Exclude Tab: The Exclude Tab You can exclude any component of an elevation by simply clicking the Add button and then clicking on the component with your mouse. Then if it is something like a head or sill, click the From All Panels box to exclude from all panels. Notice the component name in red appears after clicking on it with your mouse. The Glass Tab: The Glass Tab Adding glass is quite different than in the v14 program. Notice the framing material layer and door layer are invisible now, and all you see is the glass layer. Since this elevation drawing is an actual CAD drawing, it is necessary to isolate the glass in order to click on it with your mouseGlass Tab Continued….: Glass Tab Continued…. Notice the Action options on the left. Choose your action first, then choose how to apply the action. You can now add glass by elevation, as well as by row and lite. The glass list is infinite and contains a record for each type of glass. Annealed, tempered, impact, spandrel, etc. are all listed separately. You are essentially looking at the same glass table that you see when you edit and add in the glass table. You will see the first letter of the glass type that you select appear in the elevation after you click on the drawing. It is important to note that you must click on either the hash marks or the blue outline of the glass to select it propertly.Zoom Features: Zoom Features The Zoom button on the menu bar has several items in it that let you zoom into and out of your drawing in different ways. The Quick View feature is unique in that it opens a separate window and lets you point to an area in the drawing to magnify in the main v15 window. Notice the sliding scale that lets you change the magnification of the area you are pointing to. You can quickly zoom by clicking the In and Out buttons on the menu bar. In the Zoom button there are options like: Zoom Extents, which means fit the drawing in the window: Pan, which lets you move the drawing around in the window: and Zoom Area, which lets you click and drag to select an area to zoom in on.The Elevation and Show buttons: The Elevation and Show buttons The Elevations menu option will let you Add and Delete elevations in the current job. It also offers another way to get to the different tabs you use for working with components in an elevation. The Show menu option allows you to turn on and off the different layers in your elevation drawing. Here you can pick between: All Parts, Metal, Glass, Doors, Arches, Windows, and Glass Stops. Use the show menu to get a visual perspective of the different parts of your elevation drawing. The Menu Tree Panel: The Menu Tree Panel Click the GDS log, topmost item, in the menu tree and the GDS Home Page will open in WinBidPro. Note that this will only happen if you are connected to the Internet. You can enter any URL in the Address field at the top of the window, or click any of the browser tools you see at the top. To get back to your elevation, simply click one of the options in the Menu Tree. The Menu Tree Panel: The Menu Tree Panel The menu tree lets you access all of the key features of the v15 program that are not covered in the drawing portion of the program. You can access vendor catalog information; job parts, glass, labor and markup information; all reports; the built-in CAD program; and all program and drawing default settings. The following pages will cover the different options in this menu tree. The Glass Table: The Glass Table Click the Glass Table link to edit or add glass parts. Notice that each type of glass is its own record. Select a glass record and click the Edit button to edit the details for a type of glass. You will now be able to define minimum size and minimum quantities for discounted pricing. This is also where you will set the labor code for the specific glass type, so that the glazing labor can be figured correctly. The Vendors Menu Tree Option: The Vendors Menu Tree Option Click the Vendors option to delete or add new vendors to GDS. V15 vendor files are Microsoft Access database files and will be named after the vendor itself. These files can be stored on any drive that is accessible from your computer. When deleting a vendor, you can choose to simply remove it from the list, or remove it from the list and delete the file. Click Vendor Info to change the displayed name of the vendor, any contact information, and the Add to Stocklength setting. Remember, this setting is used to change the size of a stock length before it is optimized for cutting. Notice a negative value can be entered as well.Framing Systems: Framing Systems Click the Framing Systems link in the menu tree to edit, add, and delete framing systems for the current vendor. There is no limit to the number of frames for a given vendor, and for larger lists you will want to use the Filter Bar at the top of the table. This powerful feature will be covered more in detail later in the presentation.Frame Profile Tab: Frame Profile Tab This tab resembles the maintenance tab in the v14 program. Here you can change the name of the system, add notes, change profiles of material, set add to daylight values, and set how head, sill, and vertical pieces are cut. Notice there are several more fields in the v15 program. Glass Stop profiles, Caulk Joints, and Other Horizontals are all newly added. Notice there are more options for head and sill receptors at the bottom of the window. This should accommodate nearly all situations for these components. Also notice the Framing System Parts navigation tool in the bottom right corner. This allows you to skip thru frames without exiting the parts window.Stock Length Material Tab: Stock Length Material Tab The stock length tab has many new fields for stock length parts, as well as fields for detail drawings. The detail drawing files are now managed in the same window as the parts for a given framing system. Notice the additional horizontal part fields, glass stop fields, and the quantity of parts for each type. There are more than enough part fields to accommodate each type of part in v15.Gasket & Caulking Tab: Gasket & Caulking Tab There are more vinyl part fields in v15. This should better handle curtain wall systems and systems that require different types of vinyl at different frame members. You are now able to add Perimeter Caulking part numbers. Notice the area in this window that says “Right Click Here to Open Parts List.” Click in a certain part type field, then right click in this area to open the parts list. Once you find the part you want, you can click the Insert Part button, and the part number will be added.Clips, Screws, Misc Tab: Clips, Screws, Misc Tab This tab is greatly improved over the v14 program. Apply hardware to a variety of framing types should be easier with a bigger select of part fields. Notice the “Right Click” message. Anywhere that you can enter parts in the v15 program, you will be able to right click to see the parts list. Notice the part line numbers in Red in the Per Horizontal column. These parts were imported from the v14 program, and are counted as 2 per. When entering new parts, you can simply enter the same part number twice to accomplish the same thing.Door Frames: Door Frames Separating door frames and door leafs from the framing systems is an important new feature in the v15 program. Now frames can added and edited individually and used as many times as needed. As with all lists in the v15 program, there is no limit to the number of door frames that you can have.Door Frame Parts: Door Frame Parts Here you can define the type of frame to use, the pivot and closure type, and other important settings. This is also where you will enter “precut” parts that make up a door frame. Notice the height, width, and profile settings in this window. The v15 program will draw the door frame based on these values. Also note the Transom settings in the middle of this window.Door Frame Stock Lengths: Door Frame Stock Lengths You can enter the parts required to fabricate door frames from stock lengths here. Weather stripping can also be entered. This will be figured for three side of the framed opening. Notice the detail drawing fields in this tab window. This is where you can edit and add the details that belong to a particular door frame. Don’t forget to right click when you need to add part numbers.Door Settings Tab: Door Settings Tab Defining door leafs is a powerful new feature in the v15 program. Here you specify the door rails, stiles, and even a mid rail. The settings in this window will draw an accurate door in your elevations, and is the key to figuring accurate door glass sizes. Define the basic size of the door, the stile, hinge, swing, pivot, and closure types in this window. Notice the specific measurements you can enter for gaps, glass stops, and add to daylights for glass.Door Parts Tab: Door Parts Tab Not only can you enter hardware, gasket and glass stop parts, you can also enter stock length parts to fabricate a door. For those who don’t fabricate their own doors, the Stock Length part fields will likely go untouched. Notice the detail drawing fields at the bottom of this form. As with frames, and door frames, you can edit and add details files for individual doors in the v15 program. The Parts List: The Parts List Very much like the v14 parts list with a few key differences. You will now see a multiplier factor directly, and not a funky code. There used to be 5 possible colors for a given part. Now there are ten. There are also more fields visible in this list, some of which may not be used when a catalog has been imported from the v14 program. Click the Edit button to change the information for a specific part. You can also add or delete parts from here.Adding a Part: Adding a Part Clicking the Add New button in the Parts List will bring you to the add parts window. Here you can select a multiplier from the drop down list, enter specific color prices, and detailed info on this part. Note that stock lengths should be entered in decimal inches, not feet as in the v14 program. Click the Advanced button to enter even more detailed settings for a part. The Jobs Window: The Jobs Window Click the Jobs link on the menu tree to open the Jobs List. This is one of the places that you can add a new job, and it is the one place that you can open a different job, and/or delete a job. Notice the sort option at the top of the window. Click the drop down list to change the way the jobs list is sorted. Click on the job you want to open and click Select. The Elevations Window: The Elevations Window Click the Elevations link in the menu bar to see this window. Here you can view the specs for all of the elevations in the current job. You can Delete one or more elevations in the window, and add a new elevation. Click the Edit Drawing button to open the elevation drawing, or Edit Settings to change the name etc. Elevations Window Continued….: Elevations Window Continued…. If you click the Edit Settings button in the Elevations window, you are able to change the elevation name, framing system, and/or color. Click OK to return back to the Elevations window.Selecting Elevations for Reports: Selecting Elevations for Reports Before printing any report from the menu tree, you will see this window that will allow you to select elevations for the report. Notice the Check All and Clear options at the bottom of the window. After the correct elevations are checked, click the OK button to continue to the report(s).Parts by Elevation: Parts by Elevation This window shows the elevation parts for the selected elevation. Click the Print List button to print a copy of this list. Or click the Print Report button to print a formatted report.Glass by Elevation: Glass by Elevation This window shows you the cut pieces of glass for the selected elevation. Notice the elevation name in the right most column.Metal Optimizer: Metal Optimizer The metal optimizer is a whole new feature in the v15 program. Here you can see, and edit a list of cut pieces for your entire job. The first time you open the optimizer for a job, and any time you have changed the elevations, you will need to click Get Drawing. You can save a cut piece by checking the Save box for that part. This will prevent the part from being overwritten if the retrieve the pieces again with the Get Drawing button. Notice the Maximize button for each table. This will enlarge that list so you can see more parts.Metal Optimizer Continued….: Metal Optimizer Continued…. After the elevation parts are retrieved and you have made any necessary changes, you can click the Optimize button to figure cut patterns for an optimized cut list. Notice the yield of material in the bottom list. At a glance, this shows you the efficiency of the material in this job. The options button will allow you to switch between the two optimizing methods without leaving this window.Parts to Order (Final Parts): Parts to Order (Final Parts) The final parts list shows a total of all parts for this job. The origin of the part is listed in the Data from Table column to help identify the part. Use the Sort option at the top of the window to sort this list at any time.Glass to Order (Final Glass): Glass to Order (Final Glass) This list shows the total of all glass for the job. There is no reference to the elevation it originated from since it is a summarized list. Notice the Min-Sq-Ft column and the Min OK? column. If the minimum square footage was set in the Glass Table, it will be taken into account in this list. If the minimum is not met, the price will reflect the quantity times the minimum square footage.Elevation Labor: Elevation Labor Clicking the Labor button in the Jobs section of the menu tree will open this window. The first time you want to process labor for a job you will need to Apply Labor Defaults. After doing this, you can Process Labor, or you can edit the labor settings for the elevation in the job. After applying labor, and editing default labor rates and man hours, you are ready to process labor for the job.Frame Labor Hours and Rates: Frame Labor Hours and Rates This window allows you to view and change the rates for the different labor tasks, and the man hours it takes to complete these tasks. In addition to frame related labor details, there are job related details that you can edit in the bottom left corner. Notice the Glazing Labor and Elevation Count window in the bottom right corner. You will only see this frame when editing job specific labor as it applies to the elevation listed at the top.Print Reports: Print Reports Click Print Reports to see this window and manage the print settings for all reports. Check the boxes to preview and/or print each report in the window. You are now able to print selected reports or even all reports from this window. Click Options to open this window and adjust these settings. Notice the Label Reports section. You can set the type of label you want to use for optimized metal pieces here.Print Details Window: Print Details Window Click Print Details on the menu tree and the elevations for the current job will be displayed with the job and elevation name at the bottom of the drawing. What is normally the elevation input tab frame at the bottom of the screen is now a tab frame with a tab for each elevation. You can click Print All to print every elevation in the job, or Print for single elevations. Note: Printing from this frame will use the scale, sheet size, and number of elevations per sheet that are set in the Drawing Settings link on the menu tree.Drawing Settings: Drawing Settings The Drawing Settings window gives you control of the elevation and detail drawings in both the displayed format, and printed format. Notice the Drawing Dimensions frame at the top. You can set where the dimension lines appear. Maximizing drawings per sheet, orientation, CAD file types, sheet size, and scale are all set in this window. You are now able to set the precision of measurement to either 1/16th or 1/32nd of an inch. Showing inches only, or feet and inches on the elevation drawings can also be set here.VCAD Drawing Tool: VCAD Drawing Tool Click the VCAD link in the menu bar and this included CAD program will automatically open with the current elevation. VCAD is a full featured CAD program that has many of the features of AutCAD itselft. If there is something you need to add or change in an elevation or detail drawing, this tool will allow you to do so. Since this is a separate program, you can switch back and forth between WinBidPro and VCAD if you need to.System Defaults: System Defaults The System Defaults are global settings that apply to the whole program. Some items in this window, however, do apply to specific manufacturers or even specific jobs. The point here is to set default values that are most commonly used, then you can change these settings in places like the Markup Report, or Add/Edit Splices window. Think of this as the master screen where all of these settings originate from. Use the Set Location of Master.mdb to set this files location in a multi-user environment. This database contains the Glass Table and System Defaults.Labor Defaults: Labor Defaults The Labor Defaults window lets you set labor values for the entire WinBidPro system. These values can then be changed in a given job. Notice that you need to select a different glass thickness to adjust the default values for the number of men required to install a piece of glass that falls within a certain range. The Glazing Men Required window is also known as the “rack schedule.” It is used to determine the number of men needed to install a certain piece of glass.Labor Defaults Continued….: Labor Defaults Continued…. The Frame Glazing Settings window allows you to change the number of minutes required for a certain number of men to install glass into a specific type of frame. Notice that you can select the frame type in the drop down line at the top of the window. The number of minutes applies to the number of men listed in the first column. So a piece of glass that requires 3 men to install, will take those three men 99.6 minutes to install it.Frame Labor Defaults: Frame Labor Defaults Frame labor defaults are specific to each type of framing system. Use the navigation tool in the middle of the window to change frame type, and edit the specific defaults for that frame type. Notice the Job Related defaults in the lower left corner. More detailed labor information is provided in the WinBidPro system. We have also switch back to figuring labor based on cuts and joints. This same window is presented at the elevation level with the addition of cut, joint, and door counts in order to calculate the relevant times and costs .GDS License Window: GDS License Window The license window will show the status of your license, and allow you to re-install the parallel key software. For trial version users, it will show the remaining days in your trial time. The Power of Filtering a List: The Power of Filtering a List All tables, lists, and grids (the same thing) in the v15 program have a filter bar at the top. This bar is always blank when the list first opens. Notice above that the list has been filtered to show only parts beginning with “e” and beginning with the description “med.” This is a powerful feature that lets you narrow the list down to a general group, or a very specific list of a few parts. This feature essentially replaces a search feature since it can selectively narrow a list based on multiple criteria. Notice the Clear Filter button at the bottom left of this window. Click this button to revert back to the complete list of information whenever you like. That’s It For Now!: That’s It For Now!
