What is the basics of PLC programming and PLC HMI I am about to bring you to the world of PLC. This article is not for the technology savvy or for people who are in the industry. Instead this article is for those people who are new to the technology. We will just touch the basics of PLC and it is important to us. PLC Programming logic controller what is it PLC is a computer popularly used in industrial automation. This makes it possible to automate different industrial processes machine functions and even the entire production process. It is widely used in the manufacturing industry to bring automation in their machines functions and so the oil and gas industry. It allows work to flow smoothly and error free. These computers will receive data from any input devices and then is processed and triggers pre-programmed outputs. This controller works depending on the input and output that it receives. It has the capability to monitor machine productivity temperatures produces an alarm in case of malfunctions and it is even integrated into alarm systems. This controller’s has a flexible character that it can be used in almost all applications. Basic features of PLC  Input /Output Modules. PLC has CPU that stores data to be process and received those data from the input module and after being processed it goes to the output module and in the process trigger specific results. It is the I/O modules which connects the PLC to the machine. Input devices used in PLC includes sensors switches etc.. While devices such as relays lights and drives are part of the output devices.

 Communications. PLC also needs to be connected to other systems. This is made possible thru its communication features. It is also possible to export data’s recorded by the PLC to a SCADA system which is monitoring all connected devices.  Human Machine Interface HMI. HMI is an operator interface which makes it possible for humans to interact with the machine in real time. The users are also able to add information to the PLC. It has large screens and a keypad just like any interface. Some advantages of using PLC in industrial applications  PLC’s is run by programs. Since PLC basically is run by program it is also possible to re- program it to deliver other result. It demonstrates so much flexibility.  PLC eliminates complex wiring. This controller eliminates the need to do a lot of wiring to do a process.  PLC is capable of being connected to multiple devices. It has the capability to be connected to other devices. It has a multi tasking characteristic.  Create more workspace. Since PLC uses only one computer or there might be extensions still it requires a smaller area to work with. This creates more areas for other machines.  Reduce errors. The percentage of error is very minimal compared to the manual or wired processing.  Easy interaction. Through its Human machine Interface HMI it is easier to interact with the machine and make changes thru it real time.
