In 1500 the capital of the duchy of Milan was considered the richest city in Italy. It was dominated by Carlo V, always accompanied by his advisor. At that time many people set themselves up as bankers. One of the most important was Tommaso Marino, an arrogant and overbearing man who thought that he could have everything, thanks to his money. :
