Premium member Presentation Transcript PowerPoint Presentation: Teaser Trailers The following slides are various movie teaser trailers, all of which have been analysed .PowerPoint Presentation: The Incredibles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU6Djgf0gNo The incredibles teaser trailer is a limited mise en scene piece although it closely follows a seemingly superhero (represented by attire ) attempting to get dressed; an everyday thing to do. Although this teaser lacks variety and information it does give the audience a sense of wanting to know more due to the phone being picked up and the dissection of a seemingly super-powered being being given normal everyday attributes ; the wife is ironing a shirt, the husband picks up a phone and attempts to put on a belt buckle. Another notable feature is the similar colours this has to another children's anime, Kung Fu Panda, although I will discuss this in the respected slide.PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWw0ov-cAUg The Dark Knight The Dark Knight teaser trailer leaves, in my opinion, far too much to the imagination, though this is not a bad thing. It shows the warner bros logo in a more dark sense, dumbing the colours to simple black and white, as well as the entire trailer showing very little colour par the logo, which even then is only in a tone-depraved shade of blue. The trailer shows little, but is very powerful, we want to know what's going to happen, we want to know more. Although a powerful and effective trailer it lacks the composure we need for our trailer as it has little in it, therefore we will evade this for ideas.PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj3khq6hOKk Fight Club In my opinion, the fight club trailer is my personal favourite. Not only is the trailer fast paced and sectioned, but it also shows most of the main characters and also has a narrative over the top of both characters, which is ironic in the trailer, though without giving too much way, if you have seen the film. With fast paced cuts, various shots, various speaking, and the signature ‘rules’ of fight club this trailer gives a lot, but does not even touch the main plot of this story. Given the anarchistic references and the stabs at society, through symbolism (Fighting is dirty, Soap…) and even blunt shots such as ‘I like myself’ (to the right) the trailer gives its point, and not its plot, which in my opinion leaves a lot to the imagination, yet provokes thoughts and nevertheless curiosity.PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFrkrhi3GwQ Kung Fu Panda This is a typical conventional trailer; following traits of cut shots, main plot, main characters and, as is very common in trailers, a lighter tone at the end of it, this trailer distributes itself well. As mentioned in the incredibles analysis the tones and colours of this trailer are very similar to the incredibles, the red and yellow tones, the seemingly natural things they do (talk, eat etc ) yet it is obvious they are far from your conventional panda or human. If we do a children's film, animated or not, the colour scheme would be simple to follow, and although vague it also gives a fairly decent spectrum of opportunity to work with.PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REy7i-odnv4 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: 2 The trailer to this film does a side scrolling close up of something, I say something because I'm going to be honest, I have no idea what it is. Although if I knew im sure it would be more than effective, although I will take this into consideration and therefore be a little more precise and blunt about this if we were to use such an idea in a trailer. The ending scenes of the trailer are a crescendo of various scenes of ‘shock and horror’ esque cuts. Chainsaws, screaming etc all build up the general fear atmosphere, which consequentially gives the film its taste and information needed for the audience to fully appreciate it .PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj0tq6wjjrs The Rift The rift trailer starts of with vague shots that distribute little information besides what we can see, this is soon disrupted by the various title cuts, ‘a Russian physician disappeared’ satisfies the 5 stages of equilibriums foundation; disruption. The trailer therefore satisfies curiosity to some degree, although following ‘no one knows’ etc. we are attracted furthermore by our curiosity, nevertheless maknig this an effective trailer.PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsQRLkL8OlQ Back To The Future Although this trailer is a fairly straightforward and simplistic one its frequent and constant use of close ups (seemingly the main fundamental shot in this trailer) help to establish the key elements without giving too much away, and leaving plenty to the imagination. An effective and different trailer, conventionally simple yet still intriguing.PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAYc3gGjYW8 The Hangover: part 2 The trailer itself initially opens with a narrative voice over switching shots of the specified area; Thailand. Initially the trailer revolves around its fast paced jump cuts and comedic scenes, although there is a pivotal point in this trailer (which is almost unconventional within trailers) in which they all raise their glasses, then it goes into the aftermath of the drinking; much alike its predecessors trailer. Ultimately it is a light-hearted trailer, has comedic value and introduces itself without showing too much surprise, but enjoyment nonetheless.PowerPoint Presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUloT3Dh3-E The Snatch trailer, is a crux in terms of trailers for us as it generally hits on the essence of film we are trying to make, its inspirational to our trailer; The trailer initially jumps straight into it, a quick tempo’d music track with guns being pulled out beneath a ‘rabbis’ jacket by 3 other people, then a quick cut to a title introducing the director (guy Ritchie) and referencing previous films (lock stock…) indicates this trailer does not play around. The shots also have light-hearted comedy etc. throughout, which is a key element of our film, we’re trying to keep it serious, but with an overall humorous tone.PowerPoint Presentation: Battle: Los Angeles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAdm9ssE6gkPowerPoint Presentation: Sucker Punch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrIiYSdEe4E&feature=related You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
