Food :Food Most if not all of Latin America have one major thing in common for food- Spice. Each country of Latin America tends to use a different spice and those that share spices tend to use them at different quantities, leading to variety across the land. The fertile soil of these countries make it ideal for spices that were imported or that were there already. Another popular food is grain(flour). Items typical of Latin American cuisine include maize-based dishes. Those countries open to sea, like the Caribbean islands or states that border the Pacific, include a lot of fish and seafood in their diet.
Language :Language Believe it or not, your climate and location has an effect on your language nad dialect. There are 5 major languages in Latin America: Spanish, English, Creole, and Portuguese. Of those languages about 19 countries speak Spanish. About 6.3% of the world speak Spanish. Immigration brought the English and French language, which in time, became Creole and Portuguese. Some countries may speak the same language but their dialects are so distinctly different that if seems like they are speaking a different language.
Music and Dance :Music and Dance Latin American dance and music is close and physical. The dances of Latin America are derived from and named for the type of music they are danced to. Mambo, Salsa, Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Merengue, Samba, Flamenco, Bachata, and the Tango were created and embraced into Latin culture as early as 1791. Reggae( developed in Jamaica) and the others were soon to follow in the late 1960s. Latin American music has had a great influence on the form the dances today.
Clothing/Style :Clothing/Style Most Latin American clothing is no different from ours. Most of the clothing is, however, made of cotton or linen and is free flowing. Latin America is very colorful in their expression of clothing.
