For example , in Ankara, eight stations continuously measure particulate matter and SO2; two monitor NO2 and one CO levels. In Istanbul, particulates and SO2 are monitored at 16 stations; Izmir has five air quality monitoring stations. Turkey has here background (rural) stations in operation. In addition, various universities occasionally measure ambient concentrations of specific air pollutants such as ozone or heavy metals.AMBIENT AIR QUALITY STANDARDS: AMBIENT AIR QUALITY STANDARDS Source : 1986 Air Quality Control Regulation1990-2000 AIR POLLUTION STATUS OF THE PROVINCES WHERE NATURAL GAS IS UTILIZED(g/m3): 1990-2000 AIR POLLUTION STATUS OF THE PROVINCES WHERE NATURAL GAS IS UTILIZED (g/m3)MOTOR VEHICLES: MOTOR VEHICLESFOR MINIMIZING EXHAUST EMISSIONS: FOR MINIMIZING EXHAUST EMISSIONS Application of new technologies Generalizing of the usage of unleaded gasoline Improve diesel and unleaded fuel quality Revision of existing sstandards due to EU Standards Inspection of motor vehicles are on the agenda of Turkey.
