Why an International Internship?

Internship: Intern for eight weeks in an organization that focuses on international development. Seminars: Attend weekly academic seminars on sustainable development, eco-tourism, peace education, fair trade and the Central American Free Trade Agreement. Travel to Costa Rica to examine first hand the opportunities and challenges of international development. Eligibility: Undergraduate applicants must have completed 45 credits and have a 2.5 GPA. Graduate applicants need a 3.0 GPA.

2. Beijing, China: 

2. Beijing, China Spend a semester or a summer living, learning and interning in Beijing, China, a bustling modern city still connected to its ancient past. Students will do the following: Internships: Complete an internship that focuses on business, commerce, communications, culture and politics, history, the arts and trade. Classes: Attend weekly seminars on Chinese Life & Culture, taught by local faculty. Students also have the option to take a Chinese language class. Excursions: Enjoy cultural excursions to historic landmarks, a weekend trip to Shanghai and an 8 day tour of Western China. Eligibility: Undergraduate applicants must have completed 45 credits and have a 2.5 GPA. Graduate applicants need a 3.0 GPA.

This unique, 7-week long, summer program provides an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in Arab-Israeli relations, conflict resolution and peace building. Internship: Intern, four or five days a week, in a variety of Israeli Jewish, Israeli Arab and Palestinian organizations, such as the Palestinian Parliament, Israeli/Palestinian co-existence groups and grassroots initiatives. Attend seminars with Israeli and Palestinian decision makers, politicians, journalists and peace activists. Excursions: Opportunities to travel throughout Israel. Program includes an excursion to Petra, Jordan. Eligibility: Undergraduate applicants must have completed 45 credits and have a 2.5 GPA. Graduate applicants need a 3.0 GPA.

4. London, England: 

4. London, England Internship: Spend a semester or a summer in the cosmopolitan capital of Western Europe! Intern in a variety of host organizations such as the House of Commons, Bell Pottinger Group, The British Museum, Water Aid, NBC News, and Fortis Bank!   Seminars: Attend weekly classes on British Life and Culture, taught by local faculty. Students participating in the Spring attend a second class focusing a different aspect of Contemporary British culture. Eligibility: Undergraduate applicants must have completed 45 credits and have a 2.5 GPA. Graduate applicants need a 3.0 GPA.

Intern in Marseille, France the hub of Mediterranean culture! Internship: This internship will be offered every fall, spring and summer. Intern at marketing firms, non-profit organizations, real estate companies and trade organizations. Seminars: The fall and spring options are complimented with a weekly class on Mediterranean Life & Culture. Students also have the option of taking a French language course.   Eligibility: Undergraduate applicants must have completed 45 credits and have a 2.5 GPA. Graduate students need a 3.0 GPA. 

6. Madrid, Spain: 

6. Madrid, Spain Spend a semester in Madrid, Spain’s capital and largest cosmopolitan city. Two Available Courses of Study are offered every Spring semester. Language Based Semester Courses is Spanish language as well as available elective classes on Spanish history, literature, and art. Language and Internship Semester Students with intermediate level Spanish language skills can obtain internships in areas including public relations, non for profit organizations, marketing and sales, and publishing. Students will also participate in weekend and day excursions to sites of historic and artistic interest as well as an after school cultural program throughout the semester.

Students work with a program officer or faculty director to ensure placement in an internship matching their personal/professional interests, skills, and previous course work. Beijing, China, London, England and Marseille, France Internship Undergraduate students earn up to 12 credits Graduate students earn up to 9 credits Madrid, Spain Undergraduate students earn up to 15 credits Graduate Students earn up to 9 credits. Summer Institute on International Development and Israel and Palestine Internships Undergraduate students earn up to 9 credits Graduate students earn up to 6 credits
