And the first Licence Street Gospel Festival in the UK…. info@gosfes.com www.gosfes.com Presentation of MISSION STATEMENT : MISSION STATEMENT It is often said that when words fail music speaks so we have made it our aim to use music as a tool to bring members of the community, different faiths and backgrounds together under one banner, with a view to celebrating diversity. AIM : AIM To contribute to the quality and diversity of community life and to challenge some of the negative stereotypes that currently exist about our area by enabling people to interact with one another to bring hope and peace to the community. OBJECTIVES : OBJECTIVES Promotion of racial and religious awareness as well as the promotion of equality of opportunity The provision of or assistance with facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupations in the interests of social welfare with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants within the community. OBJECTIVES : We do these events to create opportunities for groups and organizations to participate in the development of music and arts and have proactive involvement We engage with and utilize the services of the local police, ambulance, fire and first aid providers, to ensure that the events are efficiently managed and that we cover all the important health and social care issues. Individuals are informed of the procedures, and key contacts are formally trained and briefed on the services available in the event of accident / emergency. OBJECTIVES VISION : VISION The vision began in the heart of GosFes Co-ordinator Bancroft Tabannor a member of the local church, Farm Street COGOP. As a musician he understood the potential of music as an international language and effective tool to communicate with and bring together people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and languages. The desire to stage a music festival, which would impact the community and unite church groups and other organisations in a common goal, remained in his heart for a year before finding expression. During this time he thoroughly researched the subject, using the Internet, library and contacted other organisations. Discovering that this was quite a unique project, he proceeded to set up a steering committee to begin the process of making the vision a reality. SYNOPSIS OF THE EVENTS : SYNOPSIS OF THE EVENTS This was a two-part festival, "GosFes" (Gospel Festival), begins with a street parade of floats accompanied by foot procession of dancers. The event concludes with an open-air talent show and a presentation of the gospel. Photographs of the event are shown below.
