Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who led the march to improve civil rights for millions of African Americans,:

I am crusading for millions of Americans who have an incurable medical condition :

and are being denied the basic human right of treatment with comprehensive palliative care.:

Mr. President, I have a dream that one day all people with a life-limiting condition :

that enables a group of renowned palliative medicine scholars and hospice experts :

Similarly, millions of health care workers have become certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced life support courses. :

Palliative care will then be a genuine multi-disciplinary aspect of medicine, and our health care system will be truly humanitarian.:

I have worked on the forefront of intensive care as a respiratory therapist for over 31 years. :

From early on in my career it became evident to me that :

there are some serious and widespread fundamental problems in how life support medicine and end-of-life care is routinely provided. :

I was so compelled to help improve this situation that I wrote a book called Life Support: A Family Clinical Guide, :

which is a means to educate people about various life support measures so that better decisions can be made in choosing their provision. :
