What is cattle farming ?:

What is cattle farming ? Cattle farming is the process of raising cattle from birth until the point at which they provide food or milk for consumption. A cattle farmer typically has a barn where milking cows live and a pasture where cattle graze . Dairy farmers raise cattle to provide milk for family consumption and for distribution for revenue. Beef cattle farmers raise cattle until they reach adulthood and are large enough to produce meat at slaughter. Farmers also take some cattle to auction and sell them. Most of the cattle that farmers develop for beef consumption are sent to a USDA processing facility and sold through wholesale and retail channels.

Animals used:

Variety of animals used:

Variety of animals used Exotic breed :-exotic breed are selected for long lactation period. Example :- Jersey,Holstein Friesian,Brown Swiss, Red Dane,Ayrshire,Guernsey . Indigenous breed:-indigenous breed are selected for excellent resistance to diseases. Example:-Red Sindhi,Sahiwal,Deoni .

product obtained:

product obtained Dairy cows are another type of cattle that provide us with nutritional products . There are many different dairy products but some you might be most familiar with include milk, cheese, yogurt, butter and ice cream. Other dairy products include sour cream, cottage cheese, whey, cream cheese and condensed milk. Dairy products are often used in cooking and baking and contain calcium, which can help to strengthen your bones. There are various by-products that come from all types of cattle. Tallow is fat from cattle, and it is used in wax paper, crayons, margarine, paints, rubber, lubricants, candles, soaps, lipsticks, shaving creams and other cosmetics.

How production is improved:

How production i s improved Since dairy animals are cared and bred for milk, we need to improve the milk production to meet the requirements. The period after the birth of a calf, when a cow starts to produce milk, is called lactation period. We can enhance the milk production by increasing this lactation period. But along with milk production, quality must also meet. Dairy farm management is the management of the milch animals with the goal of enhancing the quantity and quality of the milk produced. For this reason, high yielding and disease resistant breeds are developed.

Housing of cattle farms:

Housing of cattle farms In India, a great diversity exists in the design of dairy animal shelters. Traditional animal shelters have grown out of needs, resources and ingenuity of farmers. Building design and construction materials largely affect the thermal comfort inside dairy shelters. Efficiently designed sheds can help lesser the thermal stress thereby increasing feed intake, milk production and reproductive efficiency. Under varied climatic, geographical and economical conditions prevailing in India, designing an ideal set of building for dairy animals throughout the country is impossible. Hence, practically there are two systems of housing for dairy animals viz. a. Loose housing and b. Conventional barns

shelter In cattle farming, animals are maintained in a strictly hygienic manner with proper housing. For the maintenance, we need to follow some routines. Animals and their sheds need to be cleaned at a regular interval. Animals should be brushed regularly to remove the dirt and bugs in their body. The shed should be well-ventilated and roofed so that animals are protected from rain, heat, and cold. A proper drainage system should be there to remove animal waste.

Disease resistance:

Disease resistance The responsibility of cattle farming management is to maintain disease-free breeds. Animals are not an exception to disease. They also suffer from numerous diseases. This may affect the health as well as productivity of animals; even cause their death. Parasites, bacteria , and viruses are the major villains here. These microbes infect the cattle externally as well as internally. Vaccination is the one solution for the protection against bacterial and viral infections.
