EHST ORGANIZATION: The EHST shall consist of ten employer (management or supervisor) representatives and ten employee (non-supervisor or management) representatives elected or selected by the departments. Each department shall select or elect one employer representative and one employee representative to serve on the team for a period not to exceed two years. Upon reaching the first year of operation, each department shall select or elect one new employer or employee representative. This will allow the team to maintain continuity among team members. The EHST will also consist of a facilitator (City Safety Officer) and recorder. The facilitator’s primary function will be to keep the team focused and results oriented. The facilitator’s function is to facilitate the team activities, not to direct. The recorder will be responsible for recording the meeting activities. EHST FUNCTION: The safety team’s focus will be on the reduction of preventable occupational illnesses and injuries, and the proper handling, disposal, and reporting of hazardous material. Below is a list of functions to be performed by the team : Establish a commitment to achieving and maintaining a safe and healthful workplace Foster employee involvement in the environmental, health, & safety program Review city environmental and safety regulations and policies, recommend changes and updates Assist supervisors, managers, and the city safety officer with identifying workplace hazards and unsafe practices Assist supervisors, managers, and the city safety officer with incident investigations Review incident investigations (as a team) to determine causes and recommend corrective actions Make recommendations to supervisors, managers, the safety officer, and the City Manager on environmental, health, and safety mattersPowerPoint Presentation: New Business New Projects - CPR Refresher Training for EHST Members Incident Reports and Recommendations for Prevention Incident Accident Review Additional Topics Possible Grant for Training Supplies EHST Meeting Structure - Further Discussion?
