What’s the big deal about The Great Wall of China? It is the longest man-made structure on earth It was first constructed in 476 B.C. and is still having additions made today The Great Wall of China can supposedly be seen from the moon Not a world wonder like it is thought by many

Why was the Great Wall made?:

Why was the Great Wall made? The wall was made to stop foreign warriors from intruding into china. These tactics did not entirely work because the wall is not a long continuous barriers, it is separate walls that are conjoined in some places. Because of this advantage armies could easily enter.

Why is the Great Wall of China such a major Chinese landmark? There are many reasons that The Great Wall of China is such a widely visited tourist attraction. One of which was president Nixon’s iconic visit in 1972. Because of the increased tourist attraction the Chinese government began to restore sections of the wall. They also declared the wall a unifying symbol of China. Because of this and the massive size people began to flock to the wall. It now has over 41.8 million visitors a year.

How did such a big wall get built in such a short amount of time? There were always many people on duty working including convicted criminals, noblemen, peasants and unemployed intellectuals. This was a group of very diverse workers.

Is the wall being well preserved? The great wall is currently a national symbol used with pride, China faces disputes over the wall’s protection. Two organizations are working to preserve it. They are the China Great Wall Society and the International Friends of the Great Wall.

Why did all the beacon towers have different styles? The Chinese built a wall with different architectural design on each beacon to represent the diversity in china and how we are all different. Because much like life, we are all different but still work together to protect our selves, the country and our families.
