Reasons for lowering the voting age to 16!

Slide 3:

16 year olds are mature enough to make important decisions. 16 year olds have been educated for at least 10 years.

Slide 4:

There’s hardly any difference between 16 and 18 year olds

Slide 5:

A higher turn out in voting will mean greater accuracy.

Slide 6:

Some say that 16 olds don’t have the maturity to vote.

However… :

However…

Slide 8:

All 16 year olds have many rights, such as having the right to marry, have sex, smoke and even join the military. Surely they have the right to decide their future?

Slide 9:

According to the last 70 years of developmental psychology, beginning with Jean Piaget, a person as young as 11 years of age is as mentally developed as an adult. The U.S. Supreme Court held that a 6th grade education had enough knowledge to make an good choice.

TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!! :

TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!

Slide 12:

This means that 16 year olds have to pay taxes, they however cannot vote.

Slide 13:

If younger people are involved in politics, then issues involving youths will more likely to be noticed. e.g. University fees.

Slide 14:

If 16 year olds were involved in politics then there will be less youth crime.

Slide 15:

16 YEAR OLDS ARE THE FUTURE WORKING GENERATION OF THIS WORLD!

Slide 16:

In the future 16 year olds will be the ones working, if they aren’t allowed to decide their future, it will affect the way humans live.

Slide 17:

At 16, usually it is the end of teenager's education, he or she has learnt enough to go to the outside world and do what he or she wants to do.

Slide 18:

Some say that Most 16-year-olds would either vote the way their parents voted, or deliberately vote the other way to be rebellious.

However… :

However…

Slide 20:

In today’s society 16-year-olds are more mature than ever before and there isn’t much of a gap between an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old’s ability to vote.

Slide 21:

If you can die for your country, surely you can choose for your country?
