Muscle System :
Muscle System There are three different types of muscle systems:
Cardiac- found mostly within the heart
Skeletal- muscles that are used through voluntary action
Smooth- muscles that are used through involuntary action
Skeletal Muscle System :
Skeletal Muscle System The skeletal muscle system works as a ‘lever system’ in which the muscles are attached to a bone, and contracts in order to move the bone in any direction through voluntary action.
Different Functions :
Different Functions There are four different types of skeletal muscles:
Flexors- flexors help to bend the bone to pull things up. at a joint. (ex: biceps)
Extensors- extensors are the opposites of flexors, helping the bones to unbend at the joint. (ex: triceps)
Abductors- the abductors help the bone to move away from the body.(ex: lifting up your arm)
Adductors- Adductors are the opposites of abductors. It helps the bones to move toward the body. (ex: placing your arms on your side)
Organ :
Organ Biceps brachii is a skeletal muscle that is located on your upper arm. It is a flexor that bends at the joint in order to help the bone to bring things up.
Tissues :
Tissues Skeletal muscle tissues form a skeletal muscle that includes connective tissues, blood vessels, and nerves. Typical skeletal muscles tissues are striated, meaning that the individual fibers are joined parallel to each other.
Cells :
Cells Each cells within a skeletal muscle system is called a muscle fiber. The skeletal muscle cells contain numerous nuclei at the surface of the fibers.
