We inject an amount which is predicated upon system capacity and the concentration of contaminants present in the system for a period varying between 8 and 12 hours. Once the cleaning is completed, the evacuation of the product is done gradually by the addition of make-up water to the tower. In this manner, the product is diluted and will completely dissipate after a few hours. After approximately 24 hours the cleaning is completed and the water treatment can be reactivated. Using this method the cleaning cost is reduced dramatically as it only requires a concentration of product of approximately 5 to 10% of the capacity of the entire cooling system. Another mechanical approach is known as “reaming” in which a steal brush is forced through the system and has a tendency of damaging the interiors.
