Welcome!

What is a GREENWAY? :

What is a GREENWAY? A greenway is simply a series of open spaces and passageways that connect things. In NYA area we are planning to connect five lakes (Tiger, Brand, Braunworth, Young America & Barnes) to public places and facilities.

Why do we NEED a Greenway? :

Why do we NEED a Greenway? The Legacy Greenway is about leaving this area as good or better than we found it. Through the Legacy Greenway a series of public and private open space connections will be created and inherited by future generations, like Chain of Lakes in Minneapolis only on a smaller scale.

What GOOD will a Greenway do? :

What GOOD will a Greenway do? Studies show greenways improve quality of life and economic prosperity Connect YOU to nature out your back door Give KIDS a reason to stay or move back Preserve NYA’s greatest natural assets Promote Tourism quality of life healthy, active lifestyles

What YOU need to know :

What YOU need to know This is a long-term, large-scale undertaking that won’t succeed without community action Not taking property, not changing property use, not letting the public onto private property, not taking away hunting privileges.

What YOU can expect . . . :

What YOU can expect . . . Tonight you can expect to notice shading of corridors on conceptual maps and descriptions of locations in a draft plan. The plan and map are not actual illustrations of where a greenway will be, rather where a greenway could be. Same is true for what may be contained in the greenway.

Who’s WORKING on this? :
