Acne at its most basic is a disorder of the hair follicle or pore of the skin. Acne vulgaris, as common acne is known, is classified as a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin. Under this condition, the oil/ sebum producing glands are overactive and the pores & follicle open up due to excess sebum production. The sebum deposits attract infection and the affected area becomes red, develops pustules & pimples.
